The research proposal can be the most important thing in writing a research paper. The steps to accomplish a good research proposal are as follows:
- Attention crabbing title.
- 300 words+ research question+ why you are doing this research+ ways in which you will accomplish your research + some predictions about the outcome of the research = Abstract.
- Intro
- Resource Review, to show the knowledge on what you have learned about the topic.
- Explain how you apply the methods you have learned and how they help your research.
- Predict the outcome of your research.
- Explain in which ways your research would help, or affect the reader.

There are two types of outlines: The topic outline and the sentence outline. Outlines are basically a great way to organize your ideas about your paper. To make an outline there are some basic steps to follow:
- Identify the topic
- Main Categories
- Create the first Category
- Create subtract Categories
It is very important to know that each category should be at least two entries.

Proposal
Colombia is commonly associated with headlines such as: Drug dealers, cocaine wars, child killed by land mine, guerrilla kidnaps governor, paramilitares kill farmers, and that is just to name a few. But can anyone believe that in the mist of all this madness there is a world of fashion? A world so wonderful and magical that inspires designers to create couture designs in order to show them off at their very own Colombian Fashion Week. Colombian fashion has developed tremendously in the past few decades. Colombia has gone from having very generic clothing to having couture designs from designers well known around the fashion industry such as Hernan Zajar and Silvia Tcherassi. The fashion world is world of fantasy in which designers dreams come true and they show them off to the world with the best models they can find to fit the designs that have brought their imagination to life. I love fashion, and I am amazed by its rapid growth around the world. However its growth is not limited to Milan, New York, or Paris. Its growth goes far more than what anyone can image, to countries that in other days we would though as dangerous 3rd world countries. I am so passionate about my research because I want to show that Colombia despites its many awfulness, it has become a very developed fashion industry.
In order to complete my research I will use books, journals, and the web. In addition to these I will try to conduct an interview over the phone of fashion designer in Colombia. So far in the sources I have found, I have learned that Colombia is not only producing new designs but they are also manufacturing textiles. I have also learned that in the past 50 years Colombia’s fashion industry has grown tremendously.
What I hope to accomplish with my research is simple, I want to show that fashion is everywhere even in the least expected places. After my research is completed I hope to have a better understanding about the fashion industry in Colombia, and about its development into what it is today. With my research I want to show my readers that Colombia is much more than what the media makes it out to be, and that we have many talented designers that sometimes they get overshadowed by the bad reputation that Colombia has.
Outline (still in progress)
- Fashion Industry of Colombia
- How has the industry grown?
- How was it developed?
- What role does Medellin play in Colombia’s fashion
- Colombiamoda
- Colombiatex
- Fashion Week
- Hernan Zajar
- Silvia Tcherassi

I like that you are keeping your thesis personal to you. who else can give the other side’s veiw better than some from Colombia. I think that the contrasting ideas in your topic will keep your paper from being dull and the reader will want more. Can’t wait to hear what else you have.
